Prizegiving 2007

BuiltWithNOF

The Prize giving at Seacourt, prizes, although slightly undersubscribed this year due to wedding anniversaries and the such like, was again a very much enjoyed event. We had a different layout for the table arrangement, a horseshoe shape, with the prizes on a table in the middle instead of at the end, which meant that people were able to encompass the proceedings from all sides.

It was an exceedingly  good evening and the food was really exceptional, with specialist menus provided where necessary. And we appeared to have the place entirely to ourselves for the later part of the evening

The actual prize giving was a rather noisy ritual with the usual quips and kisses and most of the prizes going to our rock star, ’Speedy’ Nick, the which he no longer wishes to be referred to as. Nick had returned post haste from the End of Season Championships at Draycote. As he did not distinguish himself (bit like Paignton), he did not mind missing the last race in order to get to our event in good time! Intending to get drunk (his words) he had come on his bike, sarah with a rucksack  which was not nearly big enough to hold all his trophies. He, therefore, had to relinquish most of them again until the next day

Thanks to Sarah for her organisation and for coping with various tribulations, the last of which was the lack of a cheque for £42.00.  She only just discovered this as she was handing in the money over the bar and as this amount was most of the tip for the staff they were beginning to look a bit disappointed. However, she eventually, and with great relief, found herself to be standing on it.

Note;- One of the smaller trophies, the Saturday Points cup has run out of engraving space. John Bovis has kindly offered to do another plinth for it, as he has done for another of our Trophies.
