This Trophy was presented to the fleet by Donald Dunford in 2002. He wanted there to be an opportunity for all the sailors to have a chance of coming out on top.

Therefore, the event is run on a personal handicap basis. All members of the fleet are given their own handicap number based on their performance so far in the season. The competition is sailed concurrently with normal club racing at HISC over a suitable weekend. In addition to the normal ‘first past the post’ results, all finishers are timed in, and another finishing order is calculated using the personal handicaps.

These results are then used to create a series result using the one race on Saturday and the two on Sunday. If all three races are sailed there is one discard. The Trophy is awarded to the winner of this series.
